Rate My Team Rules

Welcome to the GPC RMT Section!

General

1. When posting your RMT, please make sure it is completed. Every pokemon must have an EV spread, an item, and a moveset.

2. While not required, an importable of your team is recommended because it lets others easily playtest your team. An importable of your team can be obtained in the "Team Builder" of Pokémon Online.

3. By posting a RMT, you are granting access of your team to the entire forum. If you do not want others to see or use your team, please do not post it.

4. You are allowed to double post in your thread, however, only do so for threat lists, or if your thread has not been posted in for at least 48 hours.

5. If you are uncomfortable with criticism, do not post a thread. You are advised to avoid posting a RMT if you will simply ignore all criticism and not change anything.

6. When rating teams, please go into some detail. If you post something such as "Toxicroak 6-0's" or "Stealth Rock kills everything", that won't be very helpful. Explain what you mean, and offer possible suggestions.

7. Don't post anything to troll, flame, or insult the person who posted the RMT. Not everyone is an expert on competitive battling, and if they posted in this area, they probably want genuine help. If you do insult anyone, it will earn you an infraction

8. Do not use irritating fonts, colors, very large pictures.....anything that makes your thread hard to read for team raters.

9. It is not necessary, but including pictures in your RMT is a recommendation. Beautification counts!

10. You must explain EVERY pokemon, and what role it serves on your team. This helps team raters as they will not have to figure it our for themselves.

11. You are highly urged to test your team before posting a RMT. This prevents a person from changing over half of your team in a single rate.

12. Your RMT must be readable and in English. Try your best to use good grammar.

13. In order to post a RMT, you must have some of knowledge of competitive battling such as tiers, strategies, etc.

14. Your team must be competitive based. For example, a team of 6 Magikarp is not acceptable.

Baton Pass - Baton Pass teams have very few goals in mind - they either wish to pass to Espeon with a lot of boosts, or pass to a 4 attack Sweeper at Air Balloon or Focus Sash. To defeat these teams, keep these questions in mind:

• Can I break the chain successfully and/or somewhat easily?
  
• Am I not helpless to Espeon with only defensive boosts?
  
• Can I hit hard enough to quickly kill these teams after the chain is broken?
  
• How could I potentially beat Focus Sash Smeargle before it gets out of hand?
  

This is perhaps the hardest strategy to prepare against. If you evaluate that you simply can't beat these teams through brute force or passive play, then you may want to add Perish Song or Haze to a Pokemon, in order to give yourself a much better chance.

Stall - Stall teams can be weather or non-weather, but they all focus on the same central goal of laying down hazards and proving solid defense while the foe struggles to bring in Pokemon that can break them.

Being able to beat stall teams require a much different kind of thinking than trying to defeat archetypes of weather. Be sure to answer these questions:

• Can I control the hazards of the game, either by setting up my own or having a successful spin strategy?
  
• Is my team fine in the long-run by entry hazards?
  
• Can I attack from both sides of the attacking spectrum successfully?
  
• Can I lure in defensive threats that wall a large portion of my team and get rid of them (or even make them useless?)
  

If you can't do any of these things and answered no, then your team isn't bring enough offensive pressure to match, as well as not enough defensive pressure to fight back. You will simply be stalled out, fighting to even land effective hits while slowly being worn down by hazards. The trick to fixing your team here is to fill in some of the roles listed above. For example, if Blissey walls much of your team and you have a Rotom-w with Will-o-Wisp, Thunderbolt, Hydro Pump, and Volt Switch, consider switching the Rotom-w into a choiced Pokemon, giving you the option to suprise Blissey and Trick it.
